From Mashable:
Target is abandoning a practice that it believes sends the wrong message to its customers — and some of them are threatening to stop shopping at the retail chain as a result.
In a blog post published Friday, the retailer announced that it will stop suggesting some products based on a shopper's gender in sections like toys, entertainment and home.
The company said that while the distinction might make sense for clothing, where fit and size are key, it doesn't have a place in sections like children's bedding or toys. Some shoppers had recently "raised important questions" about such signs, according to the blog post.
In June, an Ohio shopper tweeted a photo of aisle signage for "building sets" and "girls' building sets" with a blunt caption: "Don't do this, Target." That image was retweeted nearly 3,000 times and the company said at the time that it was reviewing the issue.
