Vernon Hoover serves a sophisticated customer base, and when he was faced with the challenge of coming up with a unique product at his retail store, Hoovers Farm Market & Greenhouses in Lititz, Pa., the lightbulb went on.
And ...
He started designing large, high-end container gardens nobody else offers. They come in varying shapes and are made of different materials, such as rattan, white wicker and antique-style metal. They go for $85, top end, but what really adds value to the planters is the plants he inserts in them to create colorful, hardy container gardens.
Hoover uses cannas, Dragon Wing begonia and other plant materials that "do well and don't die off."
For the record, sales don't die off either. Cha-ching!
