The University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture and the Tennessee Nursery & Landscape Association are hosting the annual Green Industry Field Day on June 11, 2026.
The event will take place in Knoxville at the UT Gardens and the Agriculture and Natural Resources Building on the campus of the UT Institute of Agriculture.
Three outdoor morning sessions and four classroom-style afternoon sessions are planned for industry professionals.
A variety of educational sessions and demonstrations presented by UTIA researchers and UT Extension experts will be held on topics including turf and landscape weed management, pest management for herbaceous and woody plants, and herbicide and fertilizer application. One session will focus on the current state of the green industry.
For full descriptions of the presentations and to register in advance, visit the TNLA website.
Pre-registration is required, and registration opens March 14, the day the state of Tennessee officially recognizes as Nursery and Landscape Day, in honor of the industry’s $245.2 million estimated total economic contribution to the state’s economy.
Participants who register prior to May 1 receive an early-bird discount. Registration includes a lunch, parking and all educational sessions.
The event will begin with check-in at 8 a.m. EDT at the UT Gardens Friendship Pavilion. The first session will begin at 8:30 a.m., with each session lasting approximately one hour. The field day concludes at 4:30 p.m.
“We will have the ever-popular walking tours at the UT Gardens with our specialists in turfgrass, entomology and plant pathology,” said Amy Fulcher, Extension specialist and professor in the Department of Plant Sciences. “The event will also feature a demonstration of an electric tractor during a labor and automation session.”
Applicator continuing education pesticide points (6) are anticipated to be approved for categories C3, C10 and C12.
The UT Gardens, Knoxville, is located at 2518 Jacob Drive, and the Agriculture and Natural Resources Building is located at 2431 Joe Johnson Drive on the UTIA campus.
