Walters Gardens Inc. took home first place for the company's consumer Web site, www.PerennialResource.com, during the annual national awards ceremony of the National Agri-Marketing Association in Atlanta, Ga.
The site was honored in the category of Websites: Educational Focus. The Walters Gardens Web platform had previously received the Merit Award in the Midwest Region last January, where it was then sent on to compete at the national level.
The award takes on great significance since this vigorous competition included huge national and international participants like Syngenta, John Deere, Bayer CropScience, and DuPont Crop Protection.
Other finalists in the specific category of Websites: Educational Focus included:
• Midwest Dairy Association special campaign, PutSomeCheeseOnIt.com
• Midwest Dairy Association special campaign, www.dairymakessense.com
• Heartland Country Cooperative, naturesgrownorganics.com
• Farm Credit Bank of Texas, findfarmcredit.com
• DECCO US Post-Harvest, Inc., www.deccous.com
www.PerennialResource.com was updated and re-launched just over one year ago from Walters Gardens Inc. The site provides home gardeners with the information and inspiration they need to garden successfully with perennials. More thab 1,800 perennials are profiled on the site, complete with high-quality photos, growing tips, and recommended companion plants. A handy 6-step guide to designing and growing a perennial garden is also included. Though the site does not contain any advertising, the “Find a Professional” tool connects consumers with Walters’ retail customers nationwide and in Canada through a zip code tool and their customers’ web pages posted on the site.
