When the Edgewood Recreation Center opened last year in Northeast D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser said she wanted it to be a place to "play, learn, and even grow fresh produce."
Now, with a rooftop community garden on top of the facility, providing fresh fruits and vegetables to the community has become a reality.
Since May the D.C. Department of Recreation has grown a garden on the rooftop of the rec center.
They have a range of produce as well as flowers that they give away to the public.
