This Big Bluestem is a native ornamental grass with darker gray-green foliage along with burgundy tips in spring. The grass produces red flowers and stems in August, turning almost entirely red in October. The upright clumping plants grow 6 feet tall and prefer a well-drained soil in full sun. They are hardy Zones 3-9.
