The Spear Head Spade is the brainchild of 85-year-old Daniel Mathieu, an avid gardener who longed for a way to keep doing what he loved, and Daniel’s son Julien, a mechanical engineer. Daniel Mathieu’s artificial hips and knees made gardening more difficult, so he wanted to come up with a tool to make it easier. Glorious Outdoors says the tool can make digging up to 80 percent easier, and the shovel is ideal for digging into rocky and clay soils. The design is lighter and less tiring to use than most shovels, and the blade is 33 percent thicker and 25 percent harder than traditional shovels.
