In Garden Center’s 2014 State of the Industry Survey, tree sale success varied for retailers. More than half (58%) indicated that tree sales increased compared to 2013. However, the category has declined for others over the years. Survey participants indicated the tree category saw the second largest decline in sales in spring 2014 (furniture and statuary had the largest decline.) Consumers don’t need trees as often as they do annuals and perennials, of course. Here are more findings from the report that shed light on some of the other challenges retailers face.
